Description : Schaftosideextracted from rice phloem can be usedas feeding inhibitors and resistance factors to brown planthoppers,Nilaparvatalugens[1].The screening of several Chinese medicinal herbs for nematicidal properties has shown thatArisaemaerubescens(Wall.) Schott tubers possessed significant nematicidal activity against the root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita). Two nematicidal flavone-C-glycosides were isolated by bioassay-guided fractionation from the ethanol extract. on the basis of their phytochemical and spectral data, the compounds were identified as schaftoside and isoschaftoside. Schaftoside and isoschaftosideexihibited strong nematicidal activity againstM.incognitawith the LC50values of 114.66 g/mL and 323.09 g/mL, respectively, the crude extract ofA.erubescensexhibited nematicidal activity against the root-knot nematode with a LC50value of 258.11 g/mL[2].References:[1].
